Boarding Up Services in Staines

Boarding Up Staines provides boarding up services in Staines for homes, shops, offices, empty properties and anything with a broken or exposed opening. There are five services. Each one deals with a different kind of opening, so the right one depends on what’s damaged and where it is. This page explains each service and links to the full details.

Someone answers the phone 24 hours a day. If you’re unsure which service fits, describe the damage on the call and we’ll work it out with you.

Which boarding up service do I need in Staines?

Start with what’s broken or exposed:

Many jobs involve more than one of these. A break-in can leave a forced back door and a smashed window, so we’ll board both on the same visit. Tell us everything that’s damaged when you call and the quote will cover all of it.

Window boarding

Window boarding is for any broken pane, from a small kitchen window to a large bay or patio glass. Larger openings usually take exterior-grade plywood, typically 18mm. Smaller openings can take OSB. Where the frame is sound, we fix the board without causing more damage, which makes the later reglazing easier.

Upper-floor windows need ladders and safe access. Tell us the floor level on the call, because it affects the quote. Many houses around Staines are 19th-century villas and terraces, such as those around Knowle Green and along London Road. Their sash and bay windows come in many sizes, so we ask for rough measurements or a photo before we attend.

Door boarding and securing damaged doors

A forced door is different from a broken window. The door, the frame and the lock may all be damaged. Sometimes the frame has to be made sound before anything can be fixed to it.

If the frame is badly split, we’ll explain the options before any work starts, so you know what’s possible. Security or anti-tamper fixings help stop the boarding being removed from outside.

Shopfront and commercial boarding

Shopfront and commercial boarding covers shops, offices, restaurants and warehouses. Commercial glazing tends to be bigger, and businesses usually want to reopen or protect their stock quickly. We board large display windows, glazed entrances and side doors.

We’ll also talk through which door you need to keep usable. Staines has shop frontages of every age, from the buildings around Market Square and the High Street to the shops at the south-eastern end of Church Street. Older frontages often have unusual opening sizes, so photos help us bring the right boarding.

Roof and skylight boarding

A broken skylight or roof light lets in rain and leaves a gap that’s hard to see from the ground. Roof work depends heavily on access, so the call covers height, pitch and how the opening can be reached.

Please don’t climb up to look. A photo from the ground or from inside, if it’s safe to take, is enough for us to discuss the job.

Vacant and void property securing

Vacant property securing is for landlords, agents and owners with an empty building. That might be between tenancies, during probate or before a refurbishment. We board the windows and doors so the property is closed up against entry and the weather.

This work is often planned rather than urgent, so it can be arranged at a time that suits whoever holds the keys.

How every job works

The process is the same for all five services:

  1. The call. You speak to a person. Give us the postcode, the type and size of each opening and how it can be reached. Send safe photographs if you can. We’ll work out the arrival time from the postcode during the call.
  2. The quote. You get a free, clear quote on the call before any work begins. Nothing starts until you’ve agreed it.
  3. The visit. The van carries boarding stock and fixings. If there’s loose glass or debris, we make it safe as part of the agreed work. We then board the openings with the material and fixings that suit each one.
  4. The paperwork. You receive an itemised invoice, time-stamped before and after photographs and a written statement of the work done. These are useful for your insurer, who decides what’s covered. Our insurance claims guide explains how to use them.

Boarding makes the property safe and secure for now. Your glazier or door fitter can then do the permanent repair when it suits you, without any rush.

We have over 10 years’ experience, we’re fully insured (certificate on request) and we’re DBS-checked.

What affects the quote

The same things shape the price on every service:

  • the number and size of the openings
  • height and access, such as upper floors, roofs, skylights and ladder work
  • the materials and board thickness
  • the fixing method, including security or anti-tamper fixings
  • whether a damaged door or frame needs securing first
  • any glass or debris that needs making safe

Our pricing page explains each factor in more detail.

Dealing with a specific event?

If you’re dealing with a burglary, a fire or storm damage, our situations guides explain the immediate next steps. For example, they cover contacting the police after a break-in and waiting for the fire service to hand the site back.

Talk it through with us

You don’t need to know which service you need before you get in touch. Give us the postcode, tell us what’s damaged and roughly how big it is, and send a photo if it’s safe to take one. We’ll tell you how we’d secure it and give you a quote on the call.
